About This Course
This course teaches three core concepts: 1) why software is written and how IT projects are completed, 2) how to work effectively in a team, navigating IT processes with others to complete a project, and 3) clear communication skills—written and verbal—that can be immediately put to use on the job (the course satisfies a Writing Intensive requirement). Through applied case studies, students grapple with requirements elicitation, analysis, and design of computer system solutions that tackle business objectives. They will be challenged to contemplate system development life cycles, development methodologies, analysis/design tools and techniques, and communication strategies. By the end of this course, you will have a firm grasp on how IT projects go from ideas to working software.

Perry has been managing IT projects for some of the largest companies and organizations in the country for the last 15 years. He has worked in the finance and health care industries and with the federal government. Most recently Perry has been managing cybersecurity projects for large health care providers. He holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through PMI and a Health Care Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP) certification through ISC2.
