Summer Cultural Programs (SCP) is an umbrella term for the cultural arts activities on campus at the University of Minnesota during the Summer Term. In cooperation with the Department of Concerts and Lectures, the Summer Cultural Programs Student Advisory Committee enlivens the campus community during the summer months by providing a variety of fine arts programming on both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.

The cornerstone of the program, a lunchtime series of musical concerts on Northrop Plaza, harks back to the 1950s when the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra agreed to provide mini-concerts in exchange for low rent in Northrop. It has since that time evolved into a popular series of about 25 concerts featuring a wide variety of musical genres and performers.

Summer Cultural Programs is funded through the Student Services Fees assessed to admitted students who register for a total of three or more credits any time during May Session or Summer Session. Students are encouraged to participate in the planning of the summer programming. A Student Advisory Committee works with the Summer Session Office to develop and present the funding proposal to the Student Services Fees Committee and to make final budget and programming decisions. Concerts and Lectures also works with a Student Committee to evaluate the concerts and provide feedback.

Organizations that receive funding from student services fees are not eligible to apply. The amount of each grant depends on the organization's need and the availability of funds, although it is expected to range from $200-$2000.
