This is a solid introduction to Resilience/Health Realization to support NRRC training and includes a practical discussion of the principles and process of tapping resilience/innate mental health. Bringing Out the Best in Our Kids This hopeful 40-page parental guide by Kathy Marshall presents Resilience/Health Realization as a means of preventing youth substance abuse. This 2001 publication, developed for the School District of the Menomonie Area, will be available to school systems and other entities engaged in implementing Resilience/Health Realization. Arrangements can be made to customize the contents to include local school district data on youth risk behaviors. The full electronic text of this publication is available to NRRC clients. Others may order print copies on a cost recovery basis by writing to NRRC.

Spirituality and Resilience Course CSpH 5201 This University of Minnesota course, co-developed by National Resilience Resource Center Executive Director Kathy Marshall and Linda Halcon, Ph.D., from the School of Nursing, carries two graduate or undergraduate semester credits. The class is offered jointly by NRRC and the Center for Spirituality and Healing on a recurring basis. The purpose is to teach students how to access resilience personally and professionally using the principles of Health Realization.
This seminar, primarily for professionals in health care, education, and other helping services, is an in-depth exploration of resilience theory and spiritual literature, with specific applications of Resilience/Health Realization to students' personal and professional lives and helping relationships. The course is scheduled so working professionals may attend. Offerings are listed in the Events section.
Objectives include literature critique, examination of personal resilience and protective factors, analysis of historical relationship of resilience and spirituality, experience and description of the principles of health realization, development of criteria and standards for assessing resilience in self and others, and synthesis of the understanding into professionally appropriate applications for each student's situation.
