To get started in Online Mentoring for Writers, register for Groundwork

You may register online using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card.  Web registration is easy and completely secure.

If you would like to register online, you must use either Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer as your browser. If you are using a browser other than Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer, please register by phone.

You may register by phone using your credit card by calling 612-624-4375.

You may register by mail by downloading and printing the registration form.  Full payment by check or credit card authorization must accompany your registration.

If you register via the Web, you will receive an e-mail confirmation within moments after you register.  If you register by phone or mail, you will receive a printed confirmation via postal mail.  

Then, within 24 hours, you'll receive another e-mail containing your username and password.  You'll use these to log in to your personal Online Mentoring Web page. The e-mail will also give you specific information about what to include in your Groundwork submission and how to send it via the Web.

Groundwork Ground Rules
If you have indicated that you would like us to match you with a mentor, we may submit your Groundwork to more than one mentor.  However, you will receive a reply only from the mentor with whom you are matched.

If you have a firm choice of mentor and your chosen mentor has a full client load, we will notify you by e-mail.  You may then have us submit your Groundwork to another mentor, or have your Groundwork fee refunded.

If, after receiving your reply, you feel that your mentor is not right for you, there is no refund of your Groundwork fee. 

You may submit more than one Groundwork if you would like a response from more than one mentor, but you must pay a separate fee for each Groundwork you submit.

If for any reason we feel that Split Rock Online Mentoring for Writers is not right for you, or if we cannot match you with a mentor, we will inform you of that and your Groundwork fee will be refunded.

Technical Requirements
To participate in Split Rock Online Mentoring for Writers, you must have access to any brand or type of PC or Macintosh computer, and to the following:

• Microsoft Word 97 or above. Your Online Mentoring manuscript documents must be created using MS Word. You cannot submit a document that was created using another word-processing software (such as Appleworks or WordPerfect) and then saved in Word format.
  
  
• An e-mail account, either Web-based or through your Internet service provider. Your security settings must allow you to receive e-mails from omw@cce.umn.edu.
  
  
• An approved Internet browser:  System Test
  
  

Security and Privacy
When you register for Groundwork or Mentorship I, II, or III via the Web using your credit card, you will do so on a secure Web site. Your payment will be encrypted. The University of Minnesota does not record or save your credit card information.

The University of Minnesota has a stringent privacy policy to which the Split Rock Arts Program adheres. You may click at the bottom of any Online Mentoring Web page to view the University's privacy policy.
