Mentors

Mentors should offer to be constructive critics. They shouldn't be editors or proofreaders, but rather attentive and responsive readers; their written responses to work in progress should provide feedback that provokes you to find a critical perspective on your writing.

An excellent mentor understands your needs, excels in her or his own creative writing, is an accomplished teacher, believes in your work, and values positive, constructive dialogue.

To help you decide on the right mentor, we offer comprehensive profiles of our faculty members, including literary biographies and interviews in which mentors answer questions about themselves as writers, the writing process, and their individual approaches to online mentoring. To learn more, simply select a mentor's name to view his or her profile.
