Role of Faculty Adviser
We recommend that all faculty advisers read the ICP Faculty Handbook. The handbook is intended to help faculty interact with students during thier first meeting.
Many departments who offer ICP areas request that ICP students meet with a department adviser early in the process of constructing an ICP degree, before the student drafts a proposal. Early referral not always necessary; it is up to the department to make this decision.
When appropriate, ICP advisors may make an early referral to students at the first individual meeting. A department adviser can call or email Josh Borowicz, the director of Individualized Study, (4-6852/jborowic@cce.umn.edu), if early referral is desirable.
