Planning for Your Degree
The duration of the course of study is different for each student, depending on transferable credits and number of courses a student is able to schedule each semester. Courses are usually two to four credits; the average part-time student enrolls in two to three courses per term.
Refer to the Admission section for detailed information on applying for admission to the major. After you are admitted, your ITI academic adviser (CCEinfo@umn.edu or 612-624-4000) will assist you in planning your course of study, especially in the following areas:
- Prerequisites: Take careful note of the prerequisites for the major courses.
- Sequencing: Consider the semesters the courses are offered. The ITI Planning Guide and ITI Tentative Course Schedule will assist you in this process.
- Scheduling: Courses are offered on the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus and online through CCE's Independent and Distance Learning. Before registering, check the University of Minnesota's One Stop for up-to-date course information including times, days, and locations.
