**Effective early August 2007, the Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) and the Program in Translation and Interpreting (PTI) will move from 201 Wesbrook Hall to 101 Wesbrook Hall. The Evening Classes & Summer Session office, which administers the Medical Spanish courses, will move to room 20 Classroom Office Building on the U of M's St. Paul campus. Classes take advantage of the University of Minnesota's world-class faculty and facilities, and are designed to help students acquire the English speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills they need for professional advancement or for success in a university-level classroom.
Program in Translation and Interpreting
This program offers courses for bilinguals who want to develop skills as interpreters and translators. The program includes a Certificate in Interpreting with specializations in the Health Care and Legal fields. Referral and assessment services and training materials are also available.
Two non-credit Medical Spanish courses are available in the evening to help health professionals improve their communication with patients who speak Spanish.
