Designed as a lively and stimulating assessment of Bob Dylan’s work, sources, influences, and is aimed at a diverse audience of scholars, students, avid fans, journalists, musicians, and other Dylanologists, Highway 61 Revisited will be a landmark international gathering. Speakers include many key writers on Dylan’s work and other scholars of music, American culture, literature, history, and international subjects as well as musicians and writers.
Presentations will give particular emphasis to Dylan’s Minnesota roots, his routes to other places, cultures, and musical traditions, and his international sources and impact. Featured speakers include Greil Marcus, Michael Gray, Christopher Ricks, Alessandro Carrera, Anne Waldman, Daphne Brooks, Matt Friedberger, Gayle Wald, Dave Marsh, Thomas Crow, CP Lee, Darcey Steinke, Robert Polito, Stephen Scobie, Dylan Hicks and a line up of Minneapolis musicians, and more.
Registration will be available for the entire conference or at a daily rate. See symposium schedule and roster of speakers.
Pre-Conference: Dylan’s Hibbing, Bus Tour
Saturday, March 24, 2007, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
A luxury bus will load at 8:00 a.m. at the Radisson University Hotel, 615 Washington Avenue S.E., Minneapolis.
The bus tour will take participants to Dylan’s hometown of Hibbing on Minnesota’s Iron Range. where he lived from 1947 to 1959. After lunch at Zimmy’s Restaurant, guided tours with local residents will be given of the Hibbing High School, Dylan’s childhood home, North Hibbing (the former site of the town), and the Hull Rust Mahoning mine. Other key sites in Hibbing will also be viewed. Dinner at Zimmy’s (Cost of meals not included in the registration feel) Space is limited.
Registration Information
The pre-conference bus tour is a separate pre-registration, and attendance is limited. We recommend registering for this tour as early as possible.
Registration for the entire symposium includes all sessions on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, including the reception on Sunday evening, all symposium sessions, and participant materials.
The single-day registration rates do not include the Sunday, March 25 reception at the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum. You may register for Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday daily rates.
Student registrants may choose to register for the Sunday reception in addition to the symposium registration.

Symposium Location
The symposium will be held in Coffman Memorial Union, on the East Bank campus of the University of Minnesota, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For driving directions, parking information, and a map, please click here. The reception on Sunday evening will be held at the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum.
Hotel Accommodations
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Radisson University Hotel. You may reserve your room by calling 800-822-6757. The room rate is $99.00 (plus taxes) for single or double occupancy. Rooms will be held until March 1, 2007. Reservations received after this date will be accepted on a space and rate available basis. All room reservations must be guaranteed for late arrival and secured with a credit card.
Parking is available for hotel guests on a first- come, first- served basis, in the parking lot located behind the hotel. A daily parking fee of $9.50 per day applies, which includes “in/out” privileges.
