Innovation Studies Certificate
Total credits required: 16 minimum

Required Seminars (seven credits)

IS 5001 Introduction to Innovation Studies (3 credits; online)
IS 5002 Final Project (4 credits)

Seminar courses must be taken (A-F).

A Sample of Elective Seminars (choose three of the following for a total of nine credits; new offerings are being developed every term.)
IS 5100 Chaos and Complexity (3 credits)
IS 5100 Baby-Boomers Confront the Innovation Society (3 credits)
IS 5100 Leadership and Change (3 credits)
IS 5100 Designing Professional Futures (3 credits; online)
IS 5100 Nordic Judo: Global Leveraging of Technology, Culture, and Foreign Policy (3 credits)
IS 5100 Creativity, Imagination and Innovation (3 credits)

Elective courses must be taken for a letter grade.

It is ideal to begin your studies with Introduction to Innovation Studies (IS5001), but you also may begin with a topics seminar or workshop (IS5100/IS5950). The Final Project or capstone seminar (IS 5002) will be your last course.

By the time you have completed half of the required credits you must submit an Innovation Studies Certificate Program Form to the Innovation Studies Office.

Please note that certificates are to be completed within four years of your admission date.

Completion Requirements
You must complete at least 16 graduate-level credits to earn your certificate (these credits do not include prerequisite work). To be awarded a certificate, you must submit a completed Certificate Completion Form to the College of Continuing Education. Core courses must be completed with a grade of B- or better, and your cumulative GPA for all certificate courses must be a 3.0 or better. You must complete the certificate within four years of your admission date.
