A recent survey by the Minnesota Department of Economic Security found that national, regional, and local businesses recognized a 27-percent increase in demand for employees with either a post-secondary degree or a vocational certificate. A recent U.S. government study of the field of advertising, marketing, and public relations found that "certification—a sign of competence and achievement in this field—is particularly important in a competitive job market." The study also indicated that people in a variety of jobs with these occupations do not necessarily need a business degree; however, they tend to have some business expertise.
