Admission Requirements

Please note that only eight students per year are admitted to this program, and you cannot register before you are accepted to the program. Orientation and registration for accepted students takes place the day after Labor Day.

Requirements

To be admitted into the Ophthalmology Technician Certificate Program, you must:

  • Complete an application;
  • Submit your official high school and post-secondary course work transcripts;
  • Provide three personal references;
  • Have completed a general psychology course at the post-secondary level

Admission preference is given to applicants who have completed at least two years or 60 semester credits of post-secondary course work. A personal interview is conducted for all applicants.

Upon your admittance to the program, you must complete a full physical exam at your own expense. You also must pay a $200 acceptance fee at the time of your admission. Background checks are administered for all students through the Department of Human Services.

Orientation and registration for students accepted into the program begins in the fall (the day after Labor Day) and is conducted by the School of Ophthalmic Medical Technology. Open enrollment is not available for any of the above listed courses.
