Admission Requirements
To be admitted into the Addiction Studies Undergraduate Certificate Program you must:
- Have completed 30 credits of general education requirements;
- Have completed 30 additional credits in the social sciences from an accredited post-secondary institution;
- Have a recommended minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5. Complete an application form and officially apply for admission to the program after taking one or two courses.
To be a candidate for licensure for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADCs) you must:
- Have a bachelor's degree (after January 2008);
- Have approximately 18 semester credits related to alcohol and drug counseling;
- Have completed an internship of 880 clock hours;
- Demonstrate competency in the required 12 core functions: screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reports and record keeping, and consultation.
Admission to the certificate program is recommended no later than after completion of the first course.
Application Procedures
Although you may take one or two program courses before applying for official admission into this certificate program, we suggest that you apply for admission as soon as possible. Once you are accepted into the program, you will receive timely program updates and course registration information along with other admitted student benefits.
Applying for the program is easy. Simply complete the Application for Certificate Admission form. The application form includes instructions, deadlines, and materials needed to apply.
