Project Management today is a critical, in-demand skill set. Being a successful project manager requires a combination of process skills (how to create a project charter) and human interaction skills (how to lead a project team). This certificate will provide you with a strong foundation in both the knowledge and the interpersonal aspects of being an effective project manager.

 Intended audience:

  • Anyone who wants to assume project management roles or who wants to increase their effectiveness in managing a variety of projects
  • Elective component of the Management Mastery and Supervision Mastery Certificates

Benefits of this certificate:

  • Understand project management fundamentals – role of the PM, types of projects, organizational structures, stages of a project
  • Identify your organization’s strategies and how your project fits into the big picture
  • Know what information to gather before a project starts
  • Learn how to manage risk and change

To complete this certificate program, you will take the required courses listed below in addition to 18 hours of electives. The courses may be taken in any order, but must be completed within two years of your first course. Look for the EPM code which designates courses that apply to the Essential Project Management Certificate program.

Certificate Enrollment Information
To enroll in the Essential Project Management Certificate program call us at 612-624-4000. There is a one-time $35 fee to enroll in the certificate program. Individuals enrolled in a certificate program are entitled to a $20 discount off course fees.

Accelerated Certificate option available
Accelerate the completion of your certificate. Register for all the courses in the Essential Project Management Certificate in one easy transaction and complete the certificate in eight to twelve months using the daytime or evening course option. In addition, you pay only $3,500 for this 60-hour certificate; a savings of $370. Select "View Courses/Register Now" from above, and select the accelerated registration option.

Project Management Institute Registered Provider

The College of Continuing Education is a Project Management Institute (PMI) registered education provider. PMI is the world's leader in the development of standards for the practice of project management. All project management courses offer one Professional Development Unit (PDU) for each hour of class time.
