What expectation do you have of your academic adviser? What expectations does he or she have of you?

The goal of this relationship is to develop a partnership to help you be successful at the university.

  • Provide accurate information about degree program requirements
  • Assist with understanding of academic policies and procedures
  • Offer referrals to campus resources and relevant opportunities
  • Remind and encourage students to cultivate relationships with faculty and staff

Student Responsibilities

  • Meet with your academic adviser to discuss course planning, career goals and learn more about opportunities that may fit with your educational interests
  • Read email. It is the University's official form of correspondence
  • Understand important policies and specific degree requirements and become familiar with APAS for degree planning and charting progress
  • Use the Onestop website to find information about courses, registration and tuition.
  • Note University calendar for important deadlines and events.
  • Take advantage of online resources such as Portal, Portfolio, WebCT, Vista, and Lumina.
  • Begin an 'Important University and CCE Papers' folder in which you keep copies of all important papers and copies of emails throughout your University career. Be sure to clearly label the folder and keep it in a secure place.
