WIA Certified Programs
Welcome, counselors and unemployed workers! This page was created to assist counselors and their clients in matching the right course of study to support employment goals.
Unemployed Workers
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a federal program that gives workers the chance to equip themselves with the skills and information needed to compete in the new economy. Under WIA, training programs are certified as having met or exceeded certain performance standards established by Minnesota's employment and training community. Eligible Minnesotans can use federal WIA funds to pay for training programs that are WIA certified. For more information or to locate a workforce center near you, visit The Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The University of Minnesota College of Continuing Education offers WIA certified training in the form of credit-bearing degrees and certificates and noncredit short courses and certificates.
Workforce Center Counselors
The University of Minnesota College of Continuing Education offers WIA certificate programs for both academic credit and noncredit (CEUs, PDHs, CPEs, and other nonacademic credits may be available). See the noncredit short courses and certificates and credit-bearing degrees and certificate pages for more information on the programs and their appropriate audiences.
