Dislocated Worker Resources
College of Continuing Education
The College offers a wide variety of courses and certificates that can build your resume and enhance your employment opportunities. Our instructors are practitioners in their field, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. You will leave with not only a certificate, but also with practical skills that can be put to immediate use.
For more information about available programs, please contact the College of Continuing Education Information Center at 612-624-4000. If you wish to speak with a program director or instructor directly about our curriculum, we are more than happy to do so via the phone, e-mail, or in person. The Information Center representative can provide you with the appropriate contact information.
Financial Aid
Financial assistance in the form of grants and scholarships is available from the College to qualifying students. While this funding is intended to supplement federal or state assistance, it can be substantial. If you are a resident of the state of Minnesota, a U.S. citizen, and can demonstrate financial need, you are encouraged to complete and submit an application. For more information, visit our Financial Aid site.
Department of Employment and Economic Development
If you have recently been laid off and are not sure where to begin, start by contacting your local workforce center. Counselors can help you determine your eligibility for financial assistance, including the possibility of returning to school for more training. You will find a list of workforce centers and online suggestions for developing a strategy for coping with unemployment on the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) website.
